We had great fun designing a website for Storybook Montessori, a Montessori style nursery based in Ascot. The Montessori style of education heavily promotes freedom, expression and creativity. Coming from a creative background ourselves it was the ideal opportunity to show Storybook what we were made of. We were able to express ourselves without too much limitation, this made for a superbly crafted final product that we’re proud to be a part of. Storybook Nursery opens it’s doors in Spring 2015. Having had the the pleasure of seeing their nursery transform from construction site to a child’s dream playground, we can honestly say they’ll do great!

We’re no strangers to building HTML email campaigns that look good in a wide range of desktop email software, but when our friends over at the Farnborough College of Technology asked us to help them build a template for a campaign they were launching, we decided to add a little “responsive” twist. The result, a simple but highly effective HTML email that looks great on a broad range of handheld devices, as well as the usual desktop software.

Mazda came to Yahoo! looking to raise awareness of the new Mazda5 with young families. Yahoo! put forward a proposal for extending their successful Lifestyle property with a special sponsored section aimed at parents.
The ‘Mazda Mums’ site featured a number of articles with useful tips on parenting in general and motoring advice for families. To help drive traffic to the site (if you’ll excuse the pun), Mazda Mums also included a competition, with entrants being asked to supply their top tip for travelling with children. These tips were then displayed around the site, with a simple voting mechanism to bubble popular entries to the top of lists. Users could also publish their entries to social media such as Twitter and Facebook.
Dgtl worked with Yahoo! to refine their proposal, going through mockup and wireframe and then continued on through build stages through to delivery & launch. As with all of Yahoo’s development projects, the site was based on their custom build of PHP, and employed their own profanity filtering extension and abuse reporting mechanism.
The site was a great success, and generated a huge amount of traffic on the Yahoo! network, so much so that it warranted a mention in Carol Bartz’ (Yahoo! CEO) keynote speech at the Internet Advertising Bureau 2010 conference.

Creative 30 gave competition participants the chance to win a rather tasty £10k cash prize. Participants had their creativity challenged to come up with an original design for Volvo’s new C30 R-Design in association with Vice Magazine and The Independent. 2 prizes up for grabs, one being judged by the voting public (via social media outlets), and the other by a panel featuring some of the most promising creative talent in Britain. The web design took into account competition mechanics and secure hosting of this competition micro-site. If you’d like to see a demo of the site we invite you to do so using the following link – See a demo. Design and development of this project took place right here in our Farnborough, Hampshire website design studio.
As part of it’s extensive community activity Nikon asked Yahoo! to build a sponsored competition page aimed primarily at Flickr users and promoting their current I AM NIKON campaign. The competition required that entrants submit up to three photos, each capturing one of the three themes: I AM BRAVE, I AM PART OF THE WORLD and I AM THE PERFECT MOMENT.
Yahoo! supplied initial designs for the site to Dgtl and we proceeded to make them a reality, developing the necessary HTML/CSS and PHP to bring it to life. The competition entry flow was particularly complex, requiring competition entrants to join a specially created group on Flickr, and submit at least one photo to it. We used visual cues, a dynamic form and modal dialogs to ensure the user always knew exactly where they were in the process. We used the Flickr API to determine whether or not the entrant was in the appropriate group and had submitted any photos, and then retrieved those photos for display in the competition form.
Each week the best entries were selected for display in an animated ‘recent entries’ carousel displayed in the page.
